Formerly an advice columnist at the Bay Mirror, Karen Young once fell victim to a Demonic Power Broker, a demon that stores demonic powers and sells them to the highest bidder. The Power Broker infected Karen with the power of Acid Expulsion, allowing her to burn anyone who stood in her way.

Career at the Bay Mirror[]

Little is known about Karen's time at the Bay Mirror except that she was an advice columnist with a major following, receiving severeal letters from fans asking for advice on relationships and other things of the sort. Her boss at the Mirror, Elise Rothman, came close to firing Karen in 2002 for not showing up to work but little did Elise know, Karen was infected with a demonic power that day.

Phoebe went to the Bay Mirror trying to learn more about Karen and when she arrived she located Karen's office and went through her mail as Elise walked in and wanted to know where Karen was, making it firmly clear that Karen's column was due and needed immediately so the paper can go to print. Phoebe decided to write the column and Elise was extremely impressed by it, all the while thinking that Karen wrote it.

Infected with a Demonic Power[]

Piper and Phoebe Halliwell discovered Karen wandering the streets of San Francisco bewildered and confused. Karen walked in the street and was almost hit by an oncoming vehicle but the sisters intervened and then brought her back to Halliwell Manor. Because humans can not handle demonic powers, Karen became extremely confused, frightened, paranoid and angry leading her to use the power on Paige Matthews when Paige told her she had to stay in the Manor.

The sisters were are to retrieve Karen and had a drink a special potion that would remove the demonic power from her body. After the power was removed, Karen decided that it was time for her to leave the Bay Mirror, leaving room for Phoebe to take her place at the paper as an Advice Columnist.
